Graduate Spotlight: Tracie Hasslocher, MRE

REALTOR® University Class of 2017

Concentration: Residential Real Estate Sales, Marketing & Management

How do you think the Master’s program impacts the real estate industry as a whole?

It gives more credibility to the real estate profession.

Why did you pick your concentration?

I picked my concentration because that is what I primarily practice: residential real estate.

Tell me how you feel the Master’s program will impact your future in a positive way.

Learning more about marketing and brokerage has been a bonus in this curriculum.  I feel I am ahead of the curve over other REALTORS® or agents and actually embracing ideas learned through this program in my business.

Tell me a bit about yourself in general.

Originally from NC, I was a  paralegal for over 20 years in San Antonio.  I decided to get my real estate license in 2004 and 2005 on weekends.  I have been a real estate broker since 2007 and have my own solo brokerage.

What or who encouraged you to enroll in the program?

My husband encouraged me to enroll, as he knows I like to be apprised of the latest practices in my trade.

What did you find the most challenging about the program?

Finding the time to read and complete papers was a challenge while still trying to maintain a business.  The second year was harder for me than the first, and my business dropped off during that time.  I don’t regret it because it gave me new confidence to pick up and move forward.

Earning a Master’s degree and working full time is demanding. What helped you survive those moments?

Living by a calendar of milestones and when to have papers completed helped immensely.  I did everything in stages. When I found I had spare time, I took advantage of it and sat at the computer.  I love researching and reading articles, so that part was fun.

What would you tell prospective students about the program?

Just do it!  You won’t regret it at all!

Congratulations Tracie Hasslocher!

A graduation ceremony will take place on May 19 at the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo in Washington, D.C.
