When: 05/15/2015 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Where: Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Maryland Suite A

Highlights include:

1) Guest panelist Christopher Leinberger of Brookings will discuss Smart Growth in North America. 2) Global demand for commercial investment properties is increasing, and investors are focusing on a wider range of cities than has traditionally been the case. Jed Smith, PhD, Managing Director of Research at NAR, will discuss recent trends in international investment and development. Smith, who oversees the production of the REALTORS® Confidence Index, the NAR Profile of International Home Buying Activity, NAR’s State-by-State International Business Reports, and a variety of commercial publications, has made presentations on commercial and residential market conditions to REALTOR® associations around the county and frequently hosts international visitors at NAR’s offices in Washington.

3) While the heaviest cross-border investments in commercial real estate continue to be between the U.S. and Canada, both countries are experiencing significant inflows of investment capital from around the globe. Rounding out the session is Peter C. Burley, CRE, Director of the Richard J. Rosenthal Center for Real Estate Studies, to provide an overview of a recently published survey of U.S. and Canadian Practitioners on International Investment and Office Demand. The study offers insights into ‘ground level’ practitioner experiences with international commercial investors and office clients across the US and Canada.
