In the latest installment of the REALTOR® University Speaker Series, Dr. Laurie Goodman, the Center Director for the Housing Finance Policy Center at the Urban Institute, shares her data-driven analysis on recent trends and issues on mortgage credit availability and the impact on homeownership, especially for first-time homebuyers.

Here are some highlights from the presentation and what you need to be aware of as a REALTOR®:

  • Across all racial groups FICO scores are down

  • On average, housing remains affordable, but varies by region

  • Total household growth is projected at 11.6 million between 2010 and 2020

  • In 2013 over 60% of new borrowers had FICO scores of 720 or higher
