One of the reasons adults are hesitant to pursue an advanced degree is anxiety over research and writing. Having completed the REALTOR® University’s graduate program, I fully understand. Writing assignments are rigorous. After all, this is a master’s degree. But, REALTOR® U students have some of the finest resources and support services available for writing assignments – and these resources can be tapped into from the comfort of home, the office, or wherever students happen to find themselves.
From the library website, students can access NAR’s library collection of over 15,000 physical books, reports and journals, 7,300 online journals, 3,500 digital books, and guides to researching everything from real estate law to sustainable design, tutorials on using APA, and plenty more. As a student, I begin and end all writing assignments using this single portal. While students are generally aware of these typical library resources, they often overlook an invaluable service designed to help them perfect their writing assignments – and skills – the Student Writing Center.
The Student Writing Center exists to help students become stronger writers by providing feedback on writing structure and organization, argument support, and APA format. Students simply submit assignments through the web-based Writing Center for review by a professional librarian. Within one business day, feedback is provided via email. Librarians are also available for one-on-one consultation for nearly every aspect of the writing process. From planning to research, paragraph construction to APA formatting, the librarians are here to help.
The Student Writing Center not only helps students hone their writing skills but also takes much of the stress out of paper-writing along the way. A visit to the Writing Center is well worth the time and can make the difference between a good paper and a great paper.
